Wow, summer flew by, and now football season is here! Being from upstate NY, we're proud Buffalo fans. I recently hosted a small game day gathering and wanted to make something quick, easy, and kid-friendly. That's when I discovered this simple and delicious pizza dip!

There’s nothing like digging into a warm, cheesy pizza dip while watching a football game with friends and family. I love this recipe because it's simple to make and always a crowd-pleaser. It has all the classic flavors of a pizza, but in a fun, dippable form that's perfect for game day. And if you want to make it even more delicious, try pairing it with some homemade pita chips. They're easy to whip up and add the perfect crunch to every bite. Trust me, once you try this combo, you'll never go back!

Even the pickiest eaters will love this pizza dip recipe because it brings together all the classic flavors of your favorite pizza in a warm, gooey, and cheesy dip. Plus, it’s fully customizable with your favorite toppings, so everyone can enjoy it just the way they like it! I have a family of picky eaters, so my pizza dip is kept simple without any extra toppings. However, you can easily customize it by adding jalapeños, banana peppers, pineapple, or any other toppings you love!

Whipping up this pizza dip recipe is a breeze, making it a perfect choice for gatherings—especially when kids are on the guest list. I love making pizza dip when I know there will be children around because, let's face it, kids can be picky eaters. At least I know my grandchildren won't touch guacamole or taco dip, but a cheesy, delicious pizza dip is always a hit. It's quick to prepare, full of familiar flavors, and something I can count on to please even the pickiest little eaters.

Have you ever tried making homemade pita chips from pita bread? They’re incredibly delicious and so simple to make! Grab my recipe here and serve them alongside your pizza dip for the perfect game-day snack.

Here are some delicious topping ideas for your pizza dip:

1. Pepperoni: Classic and always a favorite, it adds a slightly spicy and savory flavor.

2. Italian Sausage: Cooked and crumbled sausage adds a hearty kick.

3. Green Bell Peppers: Adds a fresh, crisp texture and a hint of sweetness.

4. Red Onions: Thinly sliced for a bit of tang and crunch.

5. Black Olives: Briny and salty, they contrast the creamy dip nicely.

6. Mushrooms: Sautéed mushrooms bring a rich, earthy flavor.

7. Bacon Bits: Crispy bacon adds a smoky, savory element.

8. Jalapeños: For those who like a bit of heat, sliced jalapeños add a spicy kick.

9. Pineapple: Sweet and tangy, perfect for fans of Hawaiian-style pizza.

10. Fresh Basil or Oregano: Adds a fragrant, herby freshness.

Mix and match these toppings to create a pizza dip that suits your taste perfectly!

Prepare this pizza dip up to 48 hours ahead of time, and when the party starts, pop it in the oven until it’s perfectly browned and bubbly. Serve it with pieces of torn French bread or crispy pita chips for an irresistible game-day snack.

If you plan to prepare this pizza dip ahead of time it’s important to store it in the refrigerator until you’re ready to bake. Before placing the dish in the oven, make sure it reaches room temperature. Putting a cold glass baking dish directly into a hot oven can cause it to shatter, so always let it warm up a bit first.

Ingredients
  • 8 oz. Cream Cheese, softened

  • ¾ cup Sour Cream

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • dash of red pepper flakes if you like a little spice and heat

  • 1 cup pizza sauce

  • ¼ cup Parmesan Cheese, finely grated

  • 1 ¼ cups Mozzarella Cheese

  • 15-20 slices Pepperoni ( add more if you’d like)

  • Homemade Pita Chips or tortilla chips

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375

Combine the softened room-temperature cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (optional). I like to use an electric mixer to smooth the cream cheese.

Spread the mixture on the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate, or baking dish.

Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce on top, then add the Parmesan and Mozzarella cheese.

  • Add pepperoni or desired pizza toppings.

  • Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, until the top begins to brown.

That’s all it takes to whip up this delicious, crowd-pleasing pizza dip! Whether you’re hosting a party, looking for a fun appetizer, or just craving some cheesy comfort food, this easy pizza dip recipe has you covered. Enjoy!
