How To Make Coffee Filter Butterflies
Hi there, Thank you for stopping by Lia Rose Simply Home! As we are all patiently awaiting the arrival of spring here is an easy DIY craft that will brighten your day! Tie Dye butterflies using markers and coffee filters. This craft will keep your kids busy and toddlers can join in as well.
Supplies
Coffee filters
Markers
Pipe cleaners
Water
How To Make
Simply layer two coffee filters
Fold in half
Fold in half again so you have a fourth
Color the coffee filter with markers anyway you’d like ( keep in mind dark colored markers will take over so use those colors sparingly )
Spray both sides of the colored coffee filter with water. Once the water is absorbed and fully wet open the filter and let it dry. I found that laying it on a paper towel works great. I have a video below.
Once your coffee filter is dry simply fold each filter accordion style set them on top of each other. Now tie a pipe cleaner in the middle of your coffee filters bend the top of the pipe cleaner into a circle as seen in the video below. Open your wings and that’s it you’ve got a beautiful tie-dyed butterfly. I have a video tutorial below on how to put your butterfly together.
As you can see there is no right or wrong way to do this! Kids will get very creative and use their imaginations. I hope you enjoy this little glimpse of spring!
